Quick Guide: Renting a Dumpster in Star
If you've never rented a dumpster before, or if it's been a while, here's everything you need to know, broken into the decisions you'll make along the way.
1. Figure Out What You're Getting Rid Of
This matters more than most people realize, because the type of material determines which container you need. We can answer any specific questions you have in this regard, but here is some general information to get you started.
- General Debris: Construction waste, renovation materials, household junk, furniture, yard waste, and other non-hazardous materials can all go in our standard roll-off dumpsters. Most Star projects fall into this category.
- Heavy Materials: Concrete, asphalt, dirt, rock, and broken hardscape must go in our 12-yard heavy-duty container. These materials are too dense for standard dumpsters and are disposed of separately. If your project involves both general debris and heavy materials, you'll need two containers.
- Prohibited Items: Hazardous waste (paint, chemicals, solvents, motor oil, pesticides), batteries, propane tanks, tires, electronics, and freon-containing appliances cannot go in a dumpster.
2. Choose a Container Size
- 15-Yard Dumpster: About 6.5 pickup truck loads. Right-sized for a single bathroom remodel, a garage cleanout, a small landscaping job, or any project that produces a moderate amount of non-heavy debris. Includes dump fees up to 2,000 lbs.
- 20-Yard Dumpster: About 9 pickup truck loads. The container most Star homeowners end up renting. Covers kitchen remodels, multi-room renovations, roof tear-offs on standard homes, and larger cleanouts. Fits comfortably on most driveways in Star's newer subdivisions. Includes dump fees up to 4,000 lbs.
- 30-Yard Dumpster: About 13 pickup truck loads. The go-to for new home construction, major renovations, large-scale property cleanouts, and commercial work. Builders working in Star's new developments typically keep one of these on-site throughout the framing and finishing stages. Includes dump fees up to 6,000 lbs.
- 12-Yard Heavy-Duty Dumpster: About 5 pickup truck loads of dense material. Reinforced frame, ground-level loading, and a strict 20,000-lb weight limit. Required for concrete, asphalt, dirt, and rock.
3. Schedule Your Delivery
Tell us when you need the container, and we'll lock in a date. Same-day delivery is available when our schedule allows, and we will work to accommodate your schedule. If your project is a few weeks out, booking ahead guarantees your preferred date, especially during the busy spring and summer construction season.
4. Know What's Included in the Price
Every rental includes delivery, careful placement on your property, pickup and haul-away, and dump fees up to the weight limit for your container size. If your load goes over the included weight, there's a $70 overage rate per additional ton—and we tell you that number before you book, not after. Extensions beyond the standard rental period are available at just $50 per day.
With Rock Solid Dumpsters, there are no hidden fees. No surprise charges. That's a commitment, not a tagline.
