What Is a 15-Yard Dumpster?
The 15-yard dumpster is one of our smaller roll-off containers. The “15-yard” refers to cubic yards of interior volume, which works out to roughly 6.5 pickup truck loads of material. The compact footprint fits comfortably in residential driveways and job sites where space is tight, and it’s a practical choice for established neighborhoods, homes with limited driveway access, or properties where HOA rules prohibit larger roll-off containers.
Best Uses for a 15-Yard Dumpster
This size handles a wide range of residential and light commercial work. Here are the most common projects where we see our 15-yard dumpsters rented out across Canyon County.
Small Remodels & Renovations
Bathroom updates, small kitchen remodels, and single-room renovations produce manageable debris volumes that fit well in a 15-yard container. Old cabinets, drywall, flooring, fixtures, and trim all go in without paying for more capacity than you need.
Garage, Basement & Shed Cleanouts
Clearing out a garage, basement, attic, or shed often fills a 15-yard dumpster almost exactly. Whether you’re downsizing, organizing, or prepping for a sale, this size handles unwanted furniture, boxes, old appliances, and miscellaneous clutter without the cost of a larger bin.
Yard Debris & Landscaping Projects
Trimming trees, pulling shrubs, or clearing out overgrown garden beds creates bulk that’s far easier to manage with a dumpster on-site. A 15-yard container takes branches, soil, sod, and plant material in one shot instead of multiple trips to the dump.
Light Demolition Work
Tearing out a deck, removing a fence, or taking down a shed produces debris that fits comfortably in a 15-yard dumpster. It works well for residential demo projects where you’re working incrementally or in close quarters.
What Can You Put in a 15-Yard Dumpster?
Our 15-yard dumpsters accept most common renovation and cleanout materials, including:
- Drywall, plaster, and lath
- Wood framing, trim, and dimensional lumber
- Flooring materials (carpet, laminate, tile, hardwood)
- Cabinets, countertops, and fixtures
- Roofing shingles (light loads only)
- Yard waste, branches, and brush
- Household furniture and junk
- General construction debris
What cannot go in a 15-yard dumpster:
- Hazardous materials (paint, chemicals, solvents, oil)
- Electronics and appliances with freon
- Tires, batteries, and propane tanks
- Heavy materials like dirt, concrete, rock, or asphalt (better suited to a 12-yard heavy-duty dumpster)

15-Yard Dumpster Pricing & Rental Terms
The 15-yard dumpster rental starts at $300 and includes dump fees for up to 2,000 lbs. If your load exceeds that, an overage charge of $60 per ton applies. We go over every cost before delivery so that there are no surprises on pickup day.
Dumpster Weight Limits & What to Expect
Most small remodels, cleanouts, and yard projects stay comfortably within the 2,000-lb limit. Heavier materials change that quickly. Roofing shingles, wet debris, and large lumber volumes add weight faster than they add volume, so a roll-off container that looks half-full can still be close to the limit. Fill level must also stay below the top rail for safe transport. When you call for a free estimate, we can talk through your materials and give you an honest weight assessment before we schedule anything.
Dumpster Rental Period & Extensions
Residential dumpster rentals run 5 days (excluding Sundays). Commercial dumpster rentals run 7 days. If your project runs long, extensions are available at $50 per day, and we can work around your timeline to keep things moving.
